The ability to market your music is an essential skill. Without properly promoting yourself or your music, no one would know you even make music. Regardless of status or stature, administration is a great equalizer of all businesses. If you want exposure, you have to put in the time for marketing - that or hire it out. Independent artists have more opportunities than ever before to launch their own career without the backing of the major labels. Hiring a professional PR executive to handle your campaign is generally the best way to get great coverage. You might prefer the DIY approach

Fitzsimon & Brogan is a musical project based in London, whose creators therefore logically are songwriter Neil Fitzsimon, and vocalist Bee Brogan. The two setup their songwriting and production to produce, what they describe as “pure pop for now people.” Both were previously in a band called Pretty Blue Gun who featured guests musicians such as members of The Art of Noise, Dave Bronze (Eric Clapton’s bass player), Tobias Boshell (Moody Blues) and Pip Williams, who played guitar on the Walker Brothers’ track, ‘No Regrets’.  The two critically acclaimed albums were produced by Pat Collier, who produced Katrina and the

The Frost: “Keep It Real” – There’s a classiness to this!

The Frost is a multi-genre group comprised of Leah Evans (Vocals) and Christian Gratz (Guitar, Piano). Located in Pennsylvania, their brand new single “Keep It Real” was released on December 7.  The duo emerge at a time when the ranks of sophisticated pop contenders seemed to have disappeared on a daily basis. Simultaneously chic and very creative, they thrive on the considerable charm of lead singer Evans, with her smooth chocolate voice, the instrumental talents of Gratz, as well as the pair’s impressive abilities as a songwriting unit. An absolute stand-out aspect of the new song is the way it’s

Forest Robots: “Timberline and Mountain Crest” – Inspired by natural landscapes

Let’s start of by saying that Fran Dominguez aka Forest Robots is a master at producing chilled out electronic music with heavy beats, and lots of orchestral instrumentation thrown in the mix. To call it electronic music almost seems unfair, as it implies this is music made by machines. Yes, I realize he is called Forest Robots, but this could not be further from the truth, as Dominguez’s music is pumping with life and human emotion. His latest album “Timberline and Mountain Crest” showcases 10 tracks of stunning depth, the kind of album you just throw the headphones on, turn

Edward St. Martin: “Lullaby” – blur the lines between savvy pop stylings and hard hitting kinetic soundscaping

Hailing from San Diego, Edward St. Martin has a background in film composition and classical music. His most recent single is “Lullaby”. Expectations met, superseded and immediately I hit replay. This track is going round again and I’m not the only one within ear shot of my stereo who is pleased about it. The easy laid back crossover Pop/EDM groove take is not unexpected, as I had already read that St. Martin was one for mellow tones combined with pop and soul vibes. But this track has another key element which makes a record of this nature standout. Intelligence. This

Junior Turner: “Hurt” featuring Neil Taylor, You could call it Magical!

In his career Junior Turner has worked with some of the world’s finest musicians and producers for who he is held in high regard.  He launched himself in 2010 when he entered a competition to release a national single for BBC’s Children in Need. He went on to win the competition out of 110,000 applicants and then shot to national fame when he recorded and released a cover version of the world famous “The Impossible Dream”.

Junior Turner has released “Say Goodbye” in support of Help for Heroes. Plus the singles, “Loveblind” featuring Jess Wood, ‘Sweet Love’ and “Hurt” featuring Robbie Williams’ guitarist Neil Taylor. Neil Taylor is an English rock and pop guitarist, best known for his long-time affiliation with Robbie Williams and for formerly being a member of the backing band of Tears for Fears.

Junior Turner has also released his ‘critically acclaimed’ debut album ‘Under Scrutiny’, and followed it up in 2013 with the release of ‘Better Day’ which has had rave reviews in the UK and in the USA.

Junior Turner’s “Natural & Nice” was reviewed by authoritative indie music magazine JamSphere sometime back, and they were mesmerized by Turner’s immense songwriting talent and vocal capacity. Now we’ve just spun his track “Hurt”, as well as watched the video supporting the song and our conclusions fail to differ in any way!

There is something magnetic and powerful about Junior Turner’s voice that goes wonderfully with many of his songs, not least “Hurt”. In my humble opinion, Turner has so much talent and creatively expresses his spirit through his music, which beautifully shows through many of the songs on his albums. I would even dare to say that Turner deserves a lot more attention from the industry because of the superb music that he creates, and his powerful singing voice.

“Hurt” launches you from one mood to the next, masterfully. From exquisite, quiet verses of insecurity, to full-on, soul-searching soaring choruses. To call “Hurt” beautiful or moving is nowhere near adequate. It builds towards such a finish, that most great pop singles would kill to end on such a high note!

You could call this single soul-energizing. You could call it magical. The music runs on a plane closer to your soul than my words can describe. No denying, Junior Turner is phenomenal. He takes turmoil and emotional strain, and turns it into a spectacular song.

However to be fair, all of Junior Turner’s songs and albums are well written and wonderfully sung. He is awesome and so is “Hurt” featuring Neil Taylor!
