DownTown Mystic: Guitars are wailing and rhythms are driving on “Rock’n’Roll Romantic”

On DownTown Mystic’s latest album one can find many things, but at its core this is a rock and roll record. And it’s not just any rock record; it’s a Robert Allen record. The idea behind the musical concept of “Rock‘n’Roll Romance”, says Allen, is – “More lust than love when it comes to rockers. The relationships are more intense because the people are generally crazier than average folks. The songs come in pairs. First a song where the relationship is on shaky ground, followed by a break-up song…” Guitars are wailing and rhythms are driving on the twelve track

Sarantos: “Perfection From Every Angle” sounds like he is having a blast

Sarantos has released “Perfection From Every Angle” a new song and music video for the hot Chicago summer. It is the sort of thing that makes you want to sing and dance along, which in my case tends to annoy anyone within ear shot. There is a lyric sheet but you won’t need it as everything is very clear and unchallenging – this is escapist fun and full of positivity and good vibes. Sarantos sounds like he is having a blast, and listening to this track you’re right there with him. For anyone wondering whether a serious singer-songwriter like Sarantos is

Naro: “The Captain” – life impressed into enduring creative sensitivities

Naro, is a composer, music technologist (she earned a Master of Music in Music Technology from New York University), videographer and graphic designer based in New York. She has just released an album “The Captain”, which was very special to her, and she explains why: “Good Friday in 2014, a blood vessel of my left brain popped. After the brain hemorrhage, I wasn’t able to walk without someone’s help, and due to memory loss, I couldn’t recall how to go back home from Union Square, which I used to do every day. Not only had I lost my memory but

Squirrels In The Attic: “Blow Hard, Blow Loud, Donnie T” – an array of sharply inspired lyrics

Squirrels In The Attic is a collaboration between Emmy Award-winning lyricist/composer David M. Matthews (the other Dave Matthews) and composer/multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, Marc Ellis. “Blow Hard, Blow Loud, Donnie T” is their first single release. And it’s a solid blow below the belt as these fellas deal out a send-up of American Presidential candidate Donald Trump. “Blow Hard, Blow Loud, Donnie T” is a refreshing breather amidst mass confusion in America. Squirrels In The Attic has combined satire, diversity, reflection, and skill to create one fine record. If nothing else it is a testament to musical exploration, into what makes the people

Roger Cole & Paul Barrere – with “Political Freak Show” they hit their stride!

“Political Freak Show” is, at once, an artistic statement and a pure pop record. This release by Roger Cole & Paul Barrere is split between two musicians who have contrasting musical and vocal styles but have a knack for blending these styles into interesting and cohesive music creations. Here, the chemistry and talent reaches an apex and the result could turn out to be the duo’s best selling, most critically acclaimed recording so far. While Roger Cole & Paul Barrere  started out releasing purely roots, blues, rock and progressive rock music, they have been inching themselves toward more alternative song craft as

Daryl Yahudy: “Nothing Compares” – powerful vocals that flow on an inspirational tour de force

Darrell McClover aka Daryl Yahudy, a former professional athlete knows that talent without discipline can only go so far. Realizing that his true heritage and roots go back to Yarushalam in the Regions of Afrika; his pride for who he is as a yahudy from the tribe of Yahudah has taken shape. The release of his single “Joy of Yah” and the new EP “Nothing Compares” is a reflection of a new beginning. Though my only interest may be the music that an artist delivers, before I listened to Daryl Yahudy, I needed to satisfy my fascination for “tribe known as Yahudah”,

Nicki Kris: “Falling To Pieces” – the writing is so smart and thoughtful

That the way this world is being conceived is radically changing on a daily basis has become all too obvious. I haven’t heard so many conscious and apperceptive songs since the sixties and early seventies. The continual shootings, killings and terrorist attacks around the world are eventually starting to make a lasting impression in people’s minds, as well as where it matters most, their hearts. Too often in the past, devastating events have been brushed aside, because they happen to ‘other people’, other populations, and other nations. However, I am convinced that if we do not take action in changing

Woren Webbe Gets You Hooked In The Emotions Of His Songs

Woren Webbe, is an Indian singer-songwriter and melody maker. At the age of 11 Webbe joined an English music choir where he got a massive opportunity to work with Indian jazz music legends like Laura Santana and Babush Santa. He started working for theatre groups, doing jingles, advertising and music scoring. In 2004 he left the music because he was more interested and focused on his studies.

During 2006 Webbe got over his broken love life, after having been inspired to write sad heartbreaking music which reflected his own situation. This changed his attitude making him more devoted to his music. In 2008 he sent his music to one of the most popular DJ’s in India, “DJ KARMA”, who was the only person playing Hiphop and R&B music in India at the time.

Woren Webbe debuted in the Asian Underground scene for his own new debut album, totalling over 1200000 views on MySpace and gaining over 120,000 fans on Facebook. Webbe reached #1 all over Asia in 2009.

I was introduced to Woren Webbe when I heard the track “Down In Love” featuring Karma. The song got my attention but I needed to hear more tracks before I decided to believe in Webbe’s project. Once I heard “You’re So Beautiful” featuring Efinxace, I knew that I would believe in it.

From beginning to end, this is quality R&B; some upbeat, some soothing, some thoughtful, some nostalgic, but all worth listening to. In general, I find it difficult to find a male vocalist who delivers melodically; with lyrics you can understand, and play around people of all ages, sex and creed. Webbe’s lyrics, tempo, and sound is also relevant to many, varied emotions and moods.

Out of the new breed of R&B singers like Chris Brown, Bobby V and Neyo etc., Woren Webbe needn’t feel inferior, he may only be lacking their wondrous production teams, but if he continues his constant growth in maturity and in his music style, he will certainly be able to take the torch from these guys sooner or later.

Woren Webbe delivers on all counts and could easily become one of the top, lasting performers in the R&B genre. He’s a soulful crooner and he gets you hooked in the emotions of his songs, like on “What About Us” performed together with Efinxcase. The tears just may fall on this one as you feel the boy’s pain. The song takes it back to the origins of R&B lyrically, pain and heartbreak and most of all, relativity.

Woren Webbe’s voice smooths over every track he does, proving to past fans and newcomers alike that he is here to stay. Listen to “Dreams” and “Don’t Walk Away” where he infuses pop melodies with rich, soulful productions. His vocal range and timbre, creates both strong emotion and sentiment for his songs.

Like many of his contemporaries, Woren Webbe seems to possess some love and respect for old-school R&B, and it shows through his solid song-writing skills and his soulful, melodious vocals. This is certainly among the best indie R&B I’ve heard in a while. Webbe is the real deal. He mixes a bit of the 80’s and 90’s R&B and Soul, with today’s modern urban sound, and it comes out sounding great.

Woren Webbe is a significant artist who certainly has a passion for music and best of all, anybody can enjoy his songs, regardless of genre, because they are truly beautiful, and that’s what music is: an art form able to motivate and uplift, with the beauty of its melody and rhythm. Few do it better than Woren Webbe!
