Illanoize Records and Big P Presents – Ace Mac

To most people the word “Ace” means the same few things; best, first, highest… But to a select few on the northwest side of Chicago, it means so much more. To them it means family, honor, security, respect…

In Logan Square, the word is used as a title of nobility amongst a few young men in Chicago’s underworld. Known to friends and family as Mac, Ace Mac is said to be one of the last authentic rap artists left. Interestingly, rather than glorify or deprecate the goings on of the inner-city, his music tends to consistently touch on the condition of the human spirit.

With songs like “One Day” and “Neva Eva” ft Lupe Fiasco, he manages to, in his own words “Give them what they want plus what they need.”

With the charm and wit of a gangster Mac uses his music to express his views and share his observations on the world around him. Instead of making music for the party scene he seems to effortlessly combine his lyrical skill, and ability to sing in a way that’s undeniably entertaining. With hard hitting bass lines, and the occasional Midwestern double time that earned him a slot on Fat Joe’s ’07 summer hit “Make It Rain Remix,” he’s created a style that is definitely his own.

In 2007 Illanoize Records was founded by Ace Mac’s current partner Big PP’s relationships and business savvy combined with Mac’s talent produced their first project “All Aces Mixtape Volume 1.” Regarded in Chicago’s underground as a classic, the mixtape earned Ace Mac the respect of his city.

His newest project, “All Aces Volume 2” is due to be released this summer. With songs like “Big Bro” ft Fat Joe, “Gun Talk” ft Busta Rhymes, and the before mentioned “Neva Eva” ft Lupe Fiasco, it’s clear that Ace and Pito have put together another quality mixtape that we can’t wait to hear!
