Leona Lee (born Leona Elicia Surles) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, dancer, musician, and model. Surles was born on December 20, 1998, in Dallas, Texas, to Elicia Crouch-Surles and Leon Surles. Her ancestry is made up of American and Trinidadian. She is the middle child of five. Surles began singing at the age of 3 and playing the piano at the age of 5. She started her acting career at the age of 5 on the children’s television show, Barney.
Leona began her acting career at the age of 5. She was trained at KD Studios and Barbizon in Dallas. She did a few commercial such as: Rent-A-Center, Aarons, and GameStop. In April 2012, Leona competed in a convention called M.A.A.I. She won awards that included Television Commercial, Talent, and Monologue. She also received a scholarship to the New York Film Academy.
Trained at Barbizon School of Modeling, and following in her mom’s footsteps, Leona also began to model at the age of 5. But Leona is also a dancer. She is trained in multiple types of dance. Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Drill Team Prep. She began to dance at the Janie Christy School of Dance. Spending 10 years training there until the studio closed down.
Currently, Leona is working on her debut EP projected to be released in 2015. “I feel like my music tells true stories about my outlook on life and other things that go on in my head.” The EP will consist of 6 songs: “Good Thing”, “Moving On”, “Heart In The Rain”, “Release Me”, “Come Correct”, and “Why Do I Love You”. She plans on releasing 2 music videos to go with her EP.
