Torrey Mercer is a Multi-award Winning, talented Pop Singer, Motivational Speaker, and Actress from San Diego, CA
Singer Songwriter and Anti-Bullying advocate, Torrey Mercer has released her brand new single, “Lies and Lipstick” from her upcoming EP that is due to debut sometime in 2015. The track is a co-written by Torrey Mercer and John Velasquez of Max and the Moon and produced by Barrett Slagle of ArtiSans Label. As Torrey describes, it’s a song I wrote about girls.
“I wanted to write a song like this for years, which exposes some of the ridiculous behavior that some women throw at each other and how petty it can be. You’d think it stops after high school, but in my experience, it doesn’t. So the song is my satirical way of bringing the issue to life and making a point about the behavior,” says Torrey.
Torrey Mercer is a firestorm, vocally and visually. She exhibits substance and purpose in her lyrics and melodic rhythm to keep you feeling her whole vibe. She definitely has a message in her music and is passionate about her decision to deliver it. On “Lies and Lipstick” she is extremely soulful and lively, over a superbly catchy, rocking beat.
“Lies and Lipstick” is absolutely single-worthy. It kind of has an old-school throwback aura, with an upbeat sound; a driven piano and bass holding out against a crunchy guitar riff. The bridge is a very memorable part of the song, as Torrey’s vocals soar across the electrifying rhythm.
“Lies and Lipstick” showcases the skills of a gifted lyricist while highlighting an unforgettable personal journey through a chronic social and cultural problem. As much as she can be a voice for the hard times, Torrey Mercer’s soulful vocals could easily be the soundtrack for the best of times too.
Simply put, everything stands out on “Lies and Lipstick“, the songwriting, the performance, the arrangement and ultimately, the production. This is going to be on some serious rotation for a while and hopefully will give Torrey Mercer the mainstream exposure she so rightly deserves!
