Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer: “PumPum Robber” never forces the rhythm or outsteps the beat

Pete Atkinson b.k.a Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer o.k.a Fabulous p attended I.A.R in NYC. Pete engineers and makes beats using Reason with Synths and Protools. Hip Hop & Dancehall is Fapk’s main genre, who cites his major influences as being Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Jay-z, Bounty Killer and Lady Saw. He started to produce beats and rhymes officially in 2006 after attending I.A.R for the first time and at that point decided to make music his career. A member of ASCAP, Fabp launched his own record label called X-Calade Promotionz.

Dancehall and Hiphop doesn’t get much darker, harder, or more eclectic than Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer. His delivery is top notch in an unusual way as I enjoyed his unrushed flowing verses and choruses. He is a genuine and a true do-it-yourself artist that takes care of all things himself.

Critics of modern crossover dancehall are quick to point a finger at several overlying issues which signal the `changing of the times’ of dancehall. The three largest of these issues are slackness in the dancehall, the actual arguments and public disagreements between the artists and musicians themselves and lastly the obvious shift of overall violence within the music. Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer steers clear of all the violent issues on “PumPum Robber”, and it almost seems like a smack in the face to the critics.

Fabp never ceases to try and please his ever loyal fan and his sexual appetite by becoming a “PumPum Robber” on this track. He combines his raspy yet sensitive voice with lyrics of unbridled sexual innuendo (without ever resorting to explicit foul language) to provide his listeners with pure pleasure. The mellow vibe he pushes throughout the track is totally refreshing and such a far cry from the usual Dancehall and Hiphop screams. Fabpz the Freelancer just rules the flow calmly and still gets the message across. His voice is out of the box of conventional Dancehall vocals. He has a unique, unconventional, free-flowing voice that never forces the rhythm or outsteps the beat. He say he accomplishes his sound by freestyling his songs most of the time.

Overall, of course you don’t play around when it comes to an independent artist like Fabpz the Freelancer, as he takes his work seriously. “PumPum Robber” is by no means the most groundbreaking or most deeply conscious work for the artist or the genre, but it’s playful and solid enough for him at this stage, where he is working his grind to impress new fans!
