Robot Raven: “Life Goes On” – relationships and its attached emotions

With “Life Goes On”, Robot Raven’s latest album, it’s tempting to zoom in on any single turning point in the duo’s timeline to figure out how they made it here. The obvious choices are “Greatest Hits, Part One”, and then “Greatest Hits, Part Two”, containing 36 of their best tracks, and released before any other album or single.  John Rigg (singer, instrumentalist and producer) and Edmond Bruneau (lyricist), have a habit of doing things in an odd manner, which perfectly matches their eclectic characters anyway.  Rigg creates robot machines and is reputed to have the world’s largest museum dedicated to toy and

“Sunshine” – Artem Cithara (ft. Nicole Elizabeth & Slick Sax) conjures immediate and unflinching imagery

The scene opens to the midnight skyline of a neon city while Slick Sax’s saxophone blows like a whirling cool breeze through the balmy summer air, muting the buzzing fluorescent signs that clamor for attention. All the while, Nicole Elizabeth’s breathy vocals murmur and soar above the four-to-the-floor piano-driven beat on the stunning new feel-good single release from Artem Cithara, entitled “Sunshine”. The track is an appropriate composition from a mysterious artist, songwriter and producer whose only goal is to be taken seriously–not only as an EDM icon, but in the context of finer arts. While much of the electronic music

Sarantos: “Why Ask Why” – uniformly excellent throughout

In a sense, Sarantos is as much a realist as he is a romantic; his best songs are about fearing the worst, hoping for the best, and getting lucky sometimes. His best songs are also about three or four minutes long and loaded with licks and melodies befitting of a great singer-songwriter reared on the musical legends of our time. All of those influences coalesce on “Why Ask Why”, a tight, spirited rock track.  Purely as sound, this track unquestionably succeeds; though AOR is basically a primary color of modern pop at this point, Sarantos’ vocals and lyrical tics are

Boy in the Rain: “Wave” – a fine assemblage of piano mastery

Boy in the Rain is a composer and solo artist. His style draws heavily from classical and romantic periods, stemming from the traditional piano studies of his youth, but incorporates modern styles into a unique contemporary fashion.  His latest album, “Wave,” is a collection of original piano solos. The piano has a chief interest of exploration for many composers. Through the history of music we can even certify the following: static discoveries and dynamic ones. Bartok, for example, in many of his solo piano pieces is always certain when to use an incomplete chord, which register and which inversion to

René Puchinger: “Emotions” – gentle and pensive lyricism mixed with challenging soundscapes

Traditionally, when people think of the classical music, they associate it with the likes of old, boring, and antiquated composers of the 18th and 19th centuries. But if we look just a little harder, we will notice that the landscape and conception behind classical music written today is consistently changing. Today, if you open up newspapers and magazines, they are consistently writing encouraging words about the very best up-and-coming 21st century composers in amongst the Hip hop and pop artists. Record labels that release contemporary classical music, are ever increasing, including up and coming labels such as FatCat, Bedroom Community,

Sean Tibbetts Founder of Metal Band SAULT

Sault (Featuring members of Kamelot and Arcanium) was a creation formed by bassist Sean Tibbetts in 2014 and originally intended to be a solo album, but the project soon morphed into a band project. Sean was introduced to guitarist Curtis Jay by long-time friend Bisquette Bewley while at a tattoo parlor. Curtis was asked to record on a few tracks for the Sault demo. LeonDee: “Stay” creates a distinctive soundscapes that are utterly breathtaking

Singer-songwriter LeonDee’s thoughtful melodies are based on real life events and situations. Through the music he asks questions and finds the answers, he tries to communicate with the listener. The ability to sing in English, Russian, Spanish, German, Turkish and French is one of Leon’s great characteristics and his multi lingual songs have a great universal appeal. With the desire to take his music to the next level he has participated in the songwriting competitions across the country and now he is widely recognized as the fresh face with the big sound.

LeonDee recently his 8-track album entitled “Stay”. His voice is so enchanting, all the songs on it are simply superb and I love not having to use the skip button on it. LeonDee sounds like a sea at midnight in a dreamy moonlit atmosphere with sweet undertones. “Stay” is so full of soul and so mesmerizing that it will stick in your head for days even after one listen. LeonDee’s smoky voice curls over the funky lyrics and combined with an orchestra of sound it makes for a set of gorgeous songs.

I think all the songs on the album are fabulous, but the ones that stand out the most are “Liar”, “You”, “Addicted”, “Loneliness” and “What Would I Do”. Each one is deep, luminous and something that you will love for a long time; excellent sophisticated music for any time of day or mood. LeonDee does not hide behind walls of sound, though the production is full and layered. His voice is the central instrument throughout the songs, and this can only be a good thing. It highlights that he is a versatile singer, confident and in control.

LeonDee offers a wonderful variety of musical flavors throughout the album. And with most of mainstream music sounding the same, it’s great that LeonDee does his own thing. Radio needs more like him. The album also has a sense of uplifting freedom, which adds another big plus sign to LeonDee’s song-writing skill. At the same time, it uses easy and simple words so the lyrics are understandable and the melodies of the songs can easily step into people’s minds too. In short it does what pop music should do: take you do a better place.

The emotions in each song are different – and LeonDee creates a distinctive soundscape for each, that is utterly breathtaking, capable of lifting you one hundred feet above the dullness of the city streets. The lyrics are deep, the melodies are beautiful and the songs overall are well produced and catchy. But ultimately it’s the combination of LeonDee’s voice and the music that turns into something which just gets under your skin and haunts your inner brain. It brings us into the realm of exquisitely superior chill-out pop music. Give it a chance and it will grow on you!
