Gp: “The Bleach Tape” – best savored in your bedroom!

Gp’s latest release, “The Bleach Tape”, feels like the realization of a voice he’s been working towards: one that is both fluid and all angles, vacillating between naked introspection and pushing us as far away as possible. He is whittling away carefully at the tendencies he’s probably always had, remaining confident that he’ll light upon something that feels fresh and honest. He sticks to introspective territory His molasses-thick vocals roll through tongue-twisting wordplay, battling to be heard over his bass-heavy beats. Most of the album has this consistent sound of dirty, low-fi, grimy drum and chords. Gp seems to be dragging us

The late, great Porter Wagoner was the host for Donny’s initial appearance on The Grand Ole Opry in 1997. And Donny is a longtime admirer of Porter’s laid back style. As

If there is ever one song you could listen to and truly feel the connection with the words, then “A Song For Mama” would be it. Rome Alexander has taken this Boyz II Men classic and really found an angle to paint a man’s feelings towards a loving mother, capturing that intimate sentiment every son would want to express, but hardly ever does, for some reason or another. Alexander says exactly what you wish to say to your mama…in a better way than you could.

Alexander’s got it all – the good looks, the charm, and the musical talent to perform heartfelt songs that are an inspiration to the soul. Put all of these attributes together and you end up with one fine track. On “A Song For Mama”, Rome Alexander emerges sounding as polished and experienced as an R&B veteran, with a voice as smooth as cream and a strong sense of rhythm. This is clear, clean and eloquent music from a clean cut guy. A really nice change from the usual market tendencies!

Great songs are universal, and a great song can transcend time and speak to people all over the world. A great song can be interpreted in so many different ways and still communicate emotionally. That’s what Rome Alexander achieves with his superb reading of this cover track. Indeed, “A Song For Mama” is a testament to the transcendent properties of classic song craft by its original writer, BabyFace, as well as a vehicle for the performing talents that will eventually make Rome Alexander a popular and respected vocalist in contemporary rhythm and blues.

Rome Alexander is donating 50% of the sales proceeds from the song to a great non-profit organization named Safe Mothers Safe Babies (“SAFE”). SAFE does tremendous work for mothers and families in Uganda. Find out more about the website here http://www.safemotherssafebabies.org/
