Love Ghost: “Scarlet Letter” – an at once compelling and distressful storyline

The scarlet letter is meant to be a symbol of shame, a stigma someone bears for a misdeed he or she has committed. The term often refers to public shame forced upon a person as a means of ostracizing him or her. Those branded with a scarlet letter feel the punitive vengeance of an unforgiving society. Instead it becomes a powerful symbol of identity, in the latest video of the song, “Scarlet Letter”, taken off the album “Lobotomy” by the Los Angeles alternative rock band, Love Ghost. The video tells the story of the band’s violist, Mya Greene and her

Vessel Decimal – “CONVERSION: Level One” guided by a sense of purpose

The appeal of Vessel Decimal – a band founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 2007 – lies in the sheer strength of the songwriting. Moreover there are powerful riffs, and you’ll get lost in the grooves, absorbing the punishing crush of the bottom end, but also reflecting on the narrative elements found on the brand new album, “CONVERSION: Level One”. Vessel Decimal are all about the balance found in the music, and the spiraling riffs that define their sound demonstrate that time and time again. It’s nice though that the band takes the time to back off, to allow you to

Jonathan Cavier: “When You Come Around” never fails to inspire

Pop singer-songwriter Jonathan Cavier has released his brand new single “When You Come Around”. This is the first single dropped in anticipation of Cavier’s second solo album, Blue Room, which is slated for release early this summer. Produced by Jonathan Cavier and mixed by Jason Losett, the song is about loving someone with all your heart and being willing to do anything for them even if they aren’t always right by your side.

Cavier is a storyteller, a heart-healer, a man who holds sentiment in high regard. He is so much more than “a pop singer”, his music transcends genres. Cavier makes the song unique with his memorable vocals and added instrumentation which will likely have the listeners humming along long after the song is over.

The heartrending “When You Come Around” showcases Jonathan Cavier’s ability to emote – whether it’s slick beats, guitar slinging or vivid storytelling, this song launches the singer into his usual comfort zone exemplifying exactly why he is one of the most highly regarded underground pop talents within the genre.

He has seized on influences from pop to rock and Americana, as well time-traveled back to the ‘80s to bring FM radio influenced melodies, layered with sweet and tight harmonies that know how to warm the heart and tease the ear. This is hardly the first time that the Phoenix based talent has tugged at listener’s heartstrings.

Once again, Jonathan Cavier has put out a killer single “When You Come Around” is a song that starts with an urgent bass riff that drives the rhythm throughout.

It’s an impressive opening to the track and the strong melody that rides atop a lusciously jangling acoustic guitar and a backdrop of strings, stays with you long after the final bars of the song finish. Cavier has grown and developed as an artist over his long career, culminating in a series of excellent releases.

Cavier’s talents as a vocalist shine as he bursts with emotion on his songs. Furthermore he has a strong vision of each song he produces, and that’s really what ties his arrangements together so tightly. Jonathan Cavier never fails to inspire me with his nostalgic, yet innovative style, vocals and instrumentals.

The single, “When You Come Around” demonstrates talented musicians, melody and harmony are not only impeccable musical attributes, but essential ones. Don’t miss the opportunity to sing along!
