Brazilian singer-songwriter Priscilla will make her US debut in 2014. The video for the first single “See U on the Dance Floor,” choreographed by acclaimed dancers Dionne “Loca De Jamaica” Renée (Shakira, Usher, Chris Brown, Sean Paul) and Lorenzo “Zagga Zo” Hanna (Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, MGK), could make the perfect platform to showcase the latin beauty’s dance skills and was recently showcased on Extra Tv plus across our very own music network.
Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Priscilla first discovered her passion for performance at the early age of 6. Later on, she began performing regularly at the famous Brazilian theatre, Teatro Marília, and ultimately appeared on a number of Brazilian television shows.
Priscilla’s single-parent upbringing was not an easy one. So at age 17, she left her home country of Brazil and relocated to Portugal where she attended college and acquired a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. But Portugal never felt right for the budding young starlet – she always knew there was only one place in the world where she could fully realize her dreams. So shortly after graduating, at age 22, she decided to move to Los Angeles in order to pursue her passion for music.
Priscilla, who currently resides in Los Angeles with her two dogs, Billy and Suzy, immediately caught the attention of a producer which resulted in her recording an EP of her own songs.
Listening to the new Priscilla single is a fun, sexy, tongue in cheek experience – but despite the obvious hooks, the sing-along choruses, and the perfectly timed beats, there also lies a certain depth and soul in the lady’s artistic repertoire.
The techno-europop-esque “See U on the Dance Floor”, doesn’t try to be an avant-garde, snooty, stuck up, pseudo-intelligent single, like some of the other dance-music Divas are currently promoting. It just stays slick, solid, edgy…and yes, very danceable!
In a nutshell, Priscilla just gets the job done with her natural charm and without pretentiousness. Fortunately, being Brazilian, gives her an unfair advantage – she has those sensuous Latin rhythms running through her bones since birth. So it’s no surprise that her style is red-hot and smoking right out of the box.
The beat, mix, and vocals come together excellently on this debut single written and performed by Priscilla, giving us a small taste of her potential. She also supports the song with a frivolous and energetic video directed and produced by Moses Israel, to completely convince us to see her on the dance floor.
