With her debut album Tres Broadway (2005), British actress Tres Hanley-Millman made a mark and name for herself on the Broadway Musical Theatre scene. Now she is introducing us to some amazing new material along with obscure songs from stage and screen.

I recently became aware of this artist through a friend, who introduced me to her video for the title song for her new album A Siren’s Odyssey. I was instantly fascinated by this work, which blended kineticism with intensive and beautiful lyricism. Let it be known this is not an album for the masses.  It’s not your typical commercial fair.

A bold move on this teams part.

However, for theatrical maven, impresarios, lovers of all things from Barbra to Brightman and those who think outside the box, will find this album a hidden treasure. It is a relentlessly tempestuous yet poignantly beautiful orchestral tour de force.

The album showcases Miss Hanley-Millman’s versatility as an artist as well as her huge dynamic range. Her performance on each song is emotionally charged. The elements and orchestrations by Daniel Moctezuma are so well integrated; they have an organic consistency that it transports us on a journey.

Perhaps my one disappointment in this album was after having a first taste of the unique creation by Hanley and Moctezuma, that there were no other works included by them.

I hope to hear more original offerings from this team in the future.
