From ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Vampire to Hiphop Emcee.
Never heard of Amadou Ly? Okay I’ll rephrase the question. Have you seen the blockbuster movie ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’? I know, who hasn’t! Well, then you already know Amadou Ly. He plays the Vampire ‘Henri’, who forms part of the duo that makes up the French Coven in the Vampire series.
Amadou Ly who was born in Senegal, apparently attended University to study engineering, but being a shy person a friend suggested he could overcome his shyness by taking acting classes. Amadou took his friend’s advice and changed his degree to acting. The rest is history, as they say! But prior to that though, Amadou had to fight a long immigration battle in the USA, after his mother abandoned at the age of 14.
Not having completely quenched his creative thirst as an actor, on his way up, Amadou Ly, expands his artistic horizons and rolls out his emcee swagger on the debut single “Right Now (feat. Favor Valentine)”, from his upcoming Ep. As soon as the track begins it starts off with a catchy hook and a nice beat and remains that way the entire time. This is a go party and have fun record. Women, money and hustling, it’s all there – the track is banging, just as I expected.
This single could easily be a club track, or a in a movie soundtrack, or on some inspirational stuff. And that’s just the sound. Add the lyrics and flows on top of that and this is truly an instant classic. I’ve listened through its entirety at least a dozen times in a row and I just can’t get enough.
On his debut, Amadou Ly has delivered a catchy, easy to get, mainstream hiphop track. After listening to it you’ll appreciate how succinctly this track’s title summarizes its theme. Amadou’s performance is exciting, unpredictable and effervescent. All the twists and turns featured on “Right Now” feel expertly crafted – and for a debut that’s no mean feat.
Simply put, this is a sultry sonic assault on your ears. It’s really a feel good track and Amadou Ly does a great job of capturing the soul and every topical moment in the song, by making you feel the emotion behind everything he’s saying.
Listening to “Right Now (feat. Favor Valentine)” you get the perception that Amadou Ly is an unapologetically honest artist who knows what he is and what he’s doing, and as such, his music rings with self-awareness and truthfulness.
It remains to be seen whether or not Amadou Ly can top himself with his upcoming EP going forward, but based on what he has done here, he seems perfectly capable of pulling it off…as he has always done in all the adventures and hardships he has had to face until now!
