IJK (Imad Jack Karam) released his highly anticipated music video entitled “Space Odyssey” on May 17th, 2016. The video clip is proudly shot in the Lebanese green mountains, cradle of IJK’s music debut before he left Lebanon to record his alternative rock music in London. Having collaborated with various British music producers associated with famous artists such as U2 and Sting, IJK has now released “Space Odyssey”, his piano-driven rock single that focuses on the central theme of man’s existence, drawing inspiration from the famous movie by Stanley Kubrick, one of IJK’s favorite cinema directors.
“Space Odyssey” arrives ripe with sub textual and metaphorical expressions about love and hope, spirituality and predestination, appreciation, gratitude and amazing grace. I applaud IJK for this bold and brave outpouring of musical expression.
He will certainly gain some new fans eagerly willing to ride along in the passenger seat, as he embarks on his journey towards rock renaissance. IJK’s soothing voice, mixed with soaring vocals and a clean piano-driven rock sound, contains commercial appeal. It’s hard not to be swept away by the uplifting energy produced by this song.
Rarely, does a debut single stand-alone so purely and distinctly. IJK makes rock music enchanting and elegant. Every move this track makes is deliberate and thoughtful. Though smooth and flowing, you can feel the rigor and exhaustive work. You can just sense that this took time and energy. And the result is extremely pleasant on the ear.
“Space Odyssey” has the rock vibe without the blaring voices and crunching, aggressive guitar sounds. IJK writes songs that are confident and self-assured while being colored by subtle textures and tones. The songs, like this one, are filled with harmonic genius. There’s a lushness to them that is permeated by pure emotion.
“Space Odyssey” is a step forward as well as a consolidation of IJK’s musical talents – particularly his skill at crafting earnest, emotional and affecting songs. Clearly IJK is an artist with the audacity to aspire to greatness and the talent to achieve it.
