King Nell$ is Paterson, New Jersey artist signed to Loyalty Above Everything Records (DJ Louie Styles Label). He just recently featured on a new single released – Dj Louie Styles “One Night” ft. Fetty Wap, Don lu & King Nell$. His single released last year “Never Had Shit” has over 1.5M plays on Soundcloud.
It can be been questioned whether King Nell$’ twisted rhyming is truly meant for human ears, some hip-hop purists may bemoan his eccentricities, but the truth is out there, laid bare by last year’s “Never Had Shit”, and now on his latest track, “Tunnel Vision”, King Nell$ is doing more with single syllables right now than most rap heads are doing with whole bars.
His voice sounds like rap’s next evolutionary step, swaddled in a Trap fueled mind-bending flow, potent and lean. But as his releases stack up and the streak stretches out, we’re left to ponder the inevitable question: Will King Nell$ be flying high, and close to the radar soon? The signs here are comforting.
Honestly, just listening to him rap on something like “Tunnel Vision” is going to be more fun than me explaining it, but if we’re going to do this in writing, here’s what I’d say: the way King Nell$ raps borders on expressionist, and his style gets more interesting as the music moves on. Overall he is slick, accessible and free-flowing.
Throughout the track, King Nell$ manages to draw you into his world. It might be the clear sound, or the amazing production, but “Tunnel Vision” proves that he is progressively mastering his craft and will be capturing serious attention with this straight out banger.
King Nell$’ catalog is distinct with dynamic moments and this project seems to even surpass many of them. Possessing a more tangible sound, King Nell$ is finally aiming to cement himself at the forefront of a much wider audience.
On a macro level, the unpredictability of some of his previous releases is less evident here, but that sounds like part of the game-plan, as up close and personal you can still witness the rapper cleansing his soul and foraging his mind through the music.
“Tunnel Vision” is built to be his most accessible release to date, and it succeeds on all levels – catchy, banging and ready to roll through any hype or speculation straight to your sound system!
