DJ Roy Cohen: “Take Off” ft. K.O – among the up and coming electronic stars to watch

DJ/Producer Roy Cohen has dropped his latest single “Take Off” from his brand new album “Happy Noises”.  Best known for his critically acclaimed work with world charting band, JIVE64, and producing for the likes of Marq Aurel and David C, DJ Roy Cohen was also lauded during the Peter Gabriel “Scratch My Back” remix contest, receiving an honorary mention for his remix of “Games Without Frontiers”. Originally from Tel Aviv, Cohen moved to Dublin 3 years ago and the album “Happy Noises” is his first recording done there.

Mastered in what’s called a ‘closed-ear environment’ with patented technology from Even Headphones, “Take Off” is the first song to be created in this manner. Cohen explains that this process adjusts frequency distribution and output to create the best sound possible.

The single, “Take Off”, has now been released worldwide and is on radio as well as being available through the most important digital download platforms, while the video clip in support of the single has also been published to YouTube for viewing.

“Take Off” does not deviate too far from the formula that has been so successful for DJ Roy Cohen to date. Working with a blank canvas, Cohen had complete freedom to create what he wanted and he constructed what sounds like hit material with an irresistibly, catchy melody, an energetic, synth driven break, and pumping percussion.

The vocal by K.O meshes perfectly with the song, once again confirming that DJ Roy Cohen’s instrumentals flow impeccably under the right voice.

It’s safe to say that the profile of electronic music has grown over recent years. And everybody loves a bass drop, not to mention the ability to groove to an electrifying vibe. So when somebody like DJ Roy Cohen joins the top electronic music ranks with a globally likeable track such as “Take Off”, you know that he is among the up and coming electronic stars to watch.

Cohen generally favors distinctive sounds that are clearly articulated during instrumental sections, breaks, and interludes. The most dynamic moments on this track is delivered by the palpitating basslines which push the verses and choruses forward with powerful momentum.

The track swells and builds as it works its way towards its explosive end. Much like previous songs, it’s clear to see DJ Roy Cohen musicianship, given his careful thought and seamless execution instrumentally. It’s also clear that he is on an emotional high.

And to close on an even higher and more positive note, last year Cohen married his husband after the country’s gay marriage referendum, marking what Cohen claims as “one of the joyful moments detailed in Happy Noises”. The dude is on a roll…Mazel Tov!
