Scartobe Galantae Flames aka Mr. Flames is of African American, Cuban, and Italian descent. Originally from the east side of Cleveland, Mr. Flames currently live in Dayton, Ohio. Growing up was rough for Mr. Flames due to being a part of the typical struggle for an African American family, so he went to the streets in search for money. As time progressed through his hustling days, Mr. Flames moved up in reputation as the local kingpin. He then decided to pick up the microphone and give rapping a shot. After losing both parents, he came up with the name ‘Scartobe Galantae Flames’ – a combination of dope boy and kingpin influences in his life, along with his Cuban and Italian background heritage.
In most modern day rap, lyrics often take a backseat while production rides shotgun. From “Lebron James”, a single that has achieved millions of views on hip hop sites and YouTube, to “Ball-Hog” and “I Ain’t Stutter”, onto “Kay Slayy Ya” which references DJ Kay Slay the man who has been fundamental in giving Mr. Flames a chance to introduce himself to the world, this dude will quench your thirst for real street talk.
After all, Hip Hop was never meant to be put on auto-pilot. Each element should be carefully crafted and given proper respect, including the art of rap, which never seems to elude Mr. Flames on this EP. While Scartobe Galantae Flames aka Mr. Flames attempts to offer up a series of diverse lyrical executions on the “Local Kingpin – EP”, he clearly has fun doing what he’s doing and is mastering the role he’s developed for himself.
Mr. Flames possesses a menacing, cool, and dangerous charisma, an effortless way of just rapping through a beat like he was a part of it and it was a part of him. On these songs Mr. Flames sounds at his most vital, as an artist situated firmly in the contemporary sound but whose music feels like the work of a dedicated classicist.
If fame, money and women is all he needed to feel whole, then my understanding is he has achieved 3 out of 4 so far, and is aiming for the fourth with this release. But Mr. Flames actually seeks to gain more out his game than just the aforementioned elements, as he aims to help other artists achieve their goals too. Mr. Flames is putting together events and street teams all aimed at offering promotion, studio time, copyrights and publishing, and distribution to the worthy artists.
Continuing at this rate Mr. Flames will soon be running in the same circles as some of the biggest rappers on the planet, and for Mr. Flames, that is presumably the pinnacle of success – he’ll be a Kingpin hustler on a whole new level. And if he has to take any shots from haters, he’ll be too busy buying tigers, collecting checks and traveling the world on his private jet to take any notice!
