Lyrikha has been writing since 2008 and her original song catalog contains Pop, R & B and club songs, which she releases through her label Erica Leonard Entertainment. But the lady actually started out singing in her church choir as a young child and has desired performing ever since. In elementary school she was introduced to drama, and has since formally studied acting for television and film. A member of the Recording Academy of Arts and Science, as well as ASCAP, Lyrikha also finds passion in reworking disco classics. Something she has confidently done with the Crown Heights Affair track “Searching For Love”, first released in 1976. Lyrikha’s reworked version is entitled “Give Me All Your Love”.
What can you say about one of the most influential disco sounds of the seventies? When disco broke through the Crown Heights Affair took the dance floors by storm. This seminal 70’s work was originally recorded when the group still had a lot of fire, and were working in that key transitional sound from soul to disco.
Lyrikha keeps that full and grooving retro feel, while moving the track into the new edgy urban realm. It is a snapshot of the world—the neon, glittery, night-time-is-the-right-time world, where you’re willing to give all your love to the right partner.
A synth infested electronic power play that bubbles and growls, “Give Me All Your Love” is the type of track that would have suited Donna Summer to a tee – just enough beat to get the crowds moving, and just enough provocative innuendo to get lovers hearts skipping.
When you hear a really fantastic reworking of a classic, it’s not always easy to parse who’s primarily responsible for the triumph. In this case it’s easy to figure out Lyrikha’s merits in the proceedings here, as she gives the song her own personal performing and lyrical twist.
With the release of “Give Me All Your Love”, Lyrikha may certainly be in the right place in her career at the right time. Seventies and Eighties revivalism is unquestionably the new sincerity, with absolutely no shortage of earnest practitioners.
Electro veterans past and divas eternal present, have been getting into the act, frequently showing up the young bucks as they confirm themselves as prime trendsetters authentically redoing retro. Lyrikha can easily be added to that list as she shows that there is no limit to how you can reinvent the past.
If the infamous phrase “seduce, amuse and entertain”, still holds true for mass artistic success, then Lyrikha’s own rendering of “Searching For Love”, now known as “Give Me All Your Love”, hits all the very same marks. Lyrikha has managed to put together a pretty damn good single, but she’s just too cool to admit it!
