It has been said that with enough talent and determination that music can take you anywhere. Well, for Baltimore’s highly-acclaimed 80s tribute band The New Romance that means half away the world twice. The group has revealed that they have been invited back to China to perform at the illustrious Starworld Casino in Macau, China as the headlining act for The British Business Association of Macau Annual Ball on June 22 and June 23.
The New Romance, who describe themselves as not just a a tribute to the 80s, but an authentic concert experience, specializes in recreating the sounds of the bands that they cover.
Performing such hits as Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, Purple Rain by Prince, Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp, Livin On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, How Soon Is Now? by the Smiths and so much more. It was this eclectic song selection and true musicianship that drew the attention of the booking agent who found their promotional video online and booked them immediately upon viewing it last year and who was eager to bring them back for the 2018 gala. Considered one of Chinas most premiere business events, The British Business Association of Macau Annual Ball benefits their annual scholarship fund to ensure that students living in the community have the ability to attend college.
Last year, over MOP100,000 was raised toward the scholarship fund. “It’s a true honor to be invited back to Macau. Any chance you have the opportunity to help people and give back to the community is special, said Greg Marsh, keyboardist for The New Romance. The kindness everyone showed us last time was remarkable. We are excited to perform again, make new friends and make Maryland proud!”
