As we emerge from a world that has been crushed by a global pandemic, the synergy of art and music are more essential than ever. It is for this reason that we find the Berlin-based producer Luca Draccar’s new EP Sugar to be deserving of a sonic hero’s welcome. In many ways, Sugar demonstrates that trance music can be conceptual. Draccar’s new project holds a fair amount of musical intensity. Beginning with the track Come Closer, Sugar’s trinity of tracks constitute a compelling theme of love’s twists and turns.
We find in Come Closer a melodic kiss that is fragrant with audible layers, including several beat variations and a translucent bass. The musical production on Sugar is very cinematic. As we encounter the succeeding tracks Love Is Killing You and She Is Gone, an inner dimension unfolds for the listener that is filled with nostalgia and a sense of familiarity. Sugar is as sweet as its title and with veteran producer Luca Draccar at the helm we can rest assure that the future of music with brewing a golden moment with this one.
