Ventura County based composer Joseph Metcalfe has won the Public Choice award for the feature film score The King’s Daughter in the World Soundtrack Awards, which recently took place in Ghent, Belgium.
The King’s Daughter, starring Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), Kaya Scodelario (Pirates Of The Caribbean), William Hurt (Avengers End Game), Benjamin Walker (Lord Of The Rings), narrated by Academy Award-winner Julie Andrews, and directed by Sean McNamara, was released earlier this year in over 2100 theaters across America and is now available on demand. The original motion picture soundtrack is streaming on all digital music platforms.
Metcalfe received the award in Ghent alongside his team of composers for the film, Grant Kirkhope and John Coda, who also reside in the Los Angeles area. Casey Stone (Frozen, X-Men), the score mixing engineer, as well as Katie Garibaldi, the soundtrack music supervisor, were also in attendance.
The King’s Daughter was also nominated for Best Score – Fantasy at the 2022 Hollywood Music in Media Awards, up against film scores including the new Avatar movie and Fantastic Beasts – Dumbledore.
Metcalfe, whose studio is based in Simi Valley and runs a collaborative composer group called Sum Of All Music, is currently scoring an immersive Christmas walkthrough event, Winter Wonderland, which will take place on the 36-acres Girl Scouts Camp Arnaz in Ventura, CA this December. The self-guided stroll will feature enchanting lights, music, hot cocoa, and keepsake photos with Santa himself. Tickets are now available at www.walkofwonders.com/tickets.
