Ritchie Newton has said “Goodbye Germany” on German Television Station Vox several times. However, what he definitely won’t say goodbye to is his passion for Rock ‘N’ Roll. Since the 1980s, this versatile artist has made a name for himself in various musical projects such as Rozzloeffel, Lucifer, MASS, Pussy Lover, Hellfire, Georgia Molly Gang, and Rocka Ritch (in collaboration with Willie Duncan of the Spider Murphy Gang). He has also been successful as an author with titles like “Die Angst Ihn Zu Verlieren” (The Fear to Lose Him) (which deals with the fate of his son, whom Ritchie Newton unfortunately lost), “Das Land der Liebeskasper,” (The Land Of The Love Clowns) and his “Rocksau” series.

A Preview of “Higher Power”

For the studio recordings in Jakarta, the ensemble includes Iwan May on guitar, Dandy on drums, Dodi on bass, and Reyfan Lapaehe on keyboard.
Additionally, outstanding guest musicians contributed to the album: Markus Pfeffer (known from Lazarus Dream and Atlantis Drive) adds his guitar skills, as do Tobias Dorner from Jester’s Tears, Frank Pané, and Hans Ziller from Bonfire.
Boris Matakovic from Human Zoo enchants listeners with the saxophone, while Jimmy Katone (known from Hit The Ground Runnin’) provides the rhythm on drums.
Armin Sabol complements the ensemble with his guitar, and Dave Slaat from Crowheart plays the keyboard, enriching the album with a multi-layered and dynamic sound. Marco Mendoza will also contribute bass to one song.
“Moments” EP in Detail The current release “Moments” was created in collaboration with Oliver Zangl and includes six energetic tracks. Particularly noteworthy are the songs “Born To Rock” and “Back To The Wall,” which exude a raw energy combining classic hard rock and heavy metal.
Hard Rock and Classic Metal Meet Ballads The opener “Back To The Wall” merges the sound of traditional 80s hard rock with modern influences. Fresh and energetic, the team of Olli Zangl and Ritchie Newton addresses social grievances of today’s times.
The musical composition is catchy and rhythmically driving. The instrumentation is convincing from start to finish, driven by mid-tempo drums that offer a danceable rhythm and move between hard rock and classic heavy metal.
Ritchie Newton: An Entertainer With heart and soul
Ritchie Newton effortlessly captivates the audience. The sound is reminiscent of a mix of Thin Lizzy, Mötley Crüe, and AC/DC, while his vocal quality also recalls Rod Stewart and Peter Criss (Kiss). The opener “Back To The Wall” impresses with its power and strength. The lively guitar solo by Oliver Zangl perfectly rounds off the listening experience.
Ballads That Go Under Your Skin
The song “Flying High” is a very personal ballad by Ritchie Newton. The stylistic blend of folk with a country attitude and moderate roots rock, supported by organ sounds, convinces with its melodies and compositions that go under the skin. Oliver Zangl and Ritchie Newton showcase their talent as songwriters here.
Ritchie Newton – A Man “Born To Rock”
The melodic hard rocker “Born To Rock,” which also has a performance video, tells the story of a person who uncompromisingly goes their own way, supported by rock music. This song is a compositional masterpiece and showcases the skills of the involved musicians. Ritchie Newton’s smoky voice and the melodic lead guitars by Oli Zangl are impressive across the board.
Elvis Lives – The Boogie Man Introduces Himself
The song “Boogie Man” makes everyone want to dance. As a true Elvis tribute act, Ritchie Newton, together with Oliver “Olli” Zangl, delivers a fast rock ‘n’ roller with piano chord sequences in the rhythm section that could have been from the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself. This catchy tune has addictive potential.
The Ballad “Falling”
The deeply emotional ballad “Falling” addresses the connection between two people. With a fantastic composition and meticulously worked out details, Ritchie Newton sets loving accents that leave the listener thoughtful. “The One” at the end laments the loss of a relationship and conveys the important message that one should never take their partner for granted.
Ritchie Newton delivers a fantastic mini-album of handcrafted rock music here, which only heightens the anticipation for his epic project “Higher Power” and presents a successful prequel.
