Dykkon IsaR.A.N., the enigmatic Detroit-based artist, has unleashed their latest musical creation upon the world. Titled “II Foreigns,” this EP is a captivating blend of hip-hop and storytelling, showcasing Dykkon’s unique style and creative vision. Despite being labeled as an album, it contains two mesmerizing tracks, each presented in multiple versions that cater to diverse musical preferences.
The EP kicks off with Side A, featuring the title track “II Foreigns.” This heartfelt composition serves as a tribute to the late MCEE BREED of Flint, Michigan, who not only inspired the song but also left an indelible mark on Dykkon’s artistic journey. Collaborating with another native Detroit hip-hop artist, Dboy Hoop, whom Dykkon connected with through their shared connection to MCEE BREED, the track pulsates with raw emotions and profound lyrical prowess. Side A, produced by the talented Detroit artist Carl Clay, also known as Greedy, establishes a sonic landscape that immerses listeners in the vibrant world of Detroit hip-hop.
On the flip side, Side B unveils a solo version of the captivating track “It’s a Mardi Gras.” Originally featured on Dykkon’s debut album, “Fok-Lor’ (folklore): A Gift from the GODS,” the song recounts real-life events that unfolded within the confines of a local strip club in Detroit. Produced by the illustrious team ILL Muzik from North Carolina, this solo rendition takes on a new dimension, allowing Dykkon’s lyrical prowess to shine brightly.
The EP’s artwork, a visually captivating creation, was skillfully crafted by 2m Zzay, who happens to be none other than Dykkon’s own son. The cover art encapsulates the EP’s essence, capturing the artist’s deep connection to their craft and family. A striking photograph, captured by Bradford Photos, adorns the artwork, further adding to the EP’s visual appeal.
The recording of “II Foreigns” took place in the esteemed studio of Cho’ Boy Fre$h Music Group (cbfmg), helmed by Dykkon and engineered by Jamie Squillace, a trusted collaborator and long-time studio partner. Their meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to sonic excellence ensure that each note and lyric resonates with the intended impact.
To accompany the EP, a visually captivating official video for “It’s a Mardi Gras” has been released. Directed by a visionary team, the video offers a mesmerizing visual narrative that complements the song’s storytelling prowess, transporting viewers into the vibrant tapestry of Detroit’s cultural fabric.
“II Foreigns” is the third release under the Cho’ Boy Fre$h Music Group (cbfmg) branding, following the success of previous endeavors such as “Payola” by Cbf Nell, an alter ego of Dykkon IsaR.A.N., and “Audio Dispensary” by Dykkon IsaR.A.N. These earlier releases have garnered critical acclaim and can be found on all major digital platforms, allowing listeners worldwide to immerse themselves in the captivating universe of Dykkon’s musical creations.
With “II Foreigns,” Dykkon IsaR.A.N. continues to push the boundaries of their artistry, cementing their position as an innovative force in the hip-hop landscape. This EP serves as a testament to their unwavering dedication to storytelling and musical excellence, inviting listeners on a transformative journey through sound and stories.
