Illinois Alt-Metal outfit ALBORN returns with “Violent” — a ferocious new single and music video that captures the chaos of the band. Shot entirely in frontman Justin Taylor’s backyard.
“We realized if we’re going to make this work, it has to be on our terms,” says Justin. “We’re happiest when we’re being ourselves, doing what feels right.”
At its core, “Violent” is about breaking free from expectation — especially for a band chasing big dreams from a small town of 3,000. The track dives deeper into ALBORN’s longtime themes of struggle and authenticity, with Justin delivering his most aggressive vocal performance to date.
The video, filmed with their longtime videographer and edited entirely in-house, embraces the raw energy of the band’s offstage life — trucks, beer, busted property, and zero filter. One unscripted moment saw a tire explode mid-shot, just before the final screamed chorus line: “Violent.” The scene made the final cut untouched. “It wasn’t clean or polished — it was real,” says Justin. “That’s us.”
Following singles “Where Were You” and “YMI”, “Violent” marks a shift from frustration to celebration — of small-town roots, self-acceptance, and the joy of tearing it all down to build something honest.
The “Violent” music video premiered globally on August 22nd.
