Kill the Reflection: “Forever & Always” keeps itself tight and consistent throughout

Their new album, “Forever & Always” is currently available for pre-sale and will release on Dec 27th 2018 on digital and physical CD format with Vinyl to follow in 2019. On the album, Kill the Reflection presents an interesting musical mélange of alternative rock with excellent musicianship and vocals, as well as exceptionally strong lyrics. The instrumental work on the album is worth listening to repeatedly, and the songs are intelligent, though generally dark. “We have adopted the moniker

Son of Andy: “Looking Up” – creating lyrical atmospheres!

Detroit area native, Son of Andy got his start in 2011 and has been producing music and beats since then. His first album, “Wendigo”, was released in 2017, and his second album “Looking Up” is available for Pre-Order right now. Son of Andy takes it to another level with his latest album. He’s on top of his game and easily out does his past couple of releases. Newcomers can appreciate this just as well as previous fans. Likewise, you don’t even have to be a fan of hip hop to appreciate what’s bought to the table here. For those not familiar,

Fitzsimon & Brogan: “Big Blue World” – a full, punchy pop sound!

Fitzsimon & Brogan is a musical project based in London, whose creators therefore logically are songwriter Neil Fitzsimon, and vocalist Bee Brogan. The two setup their songwriting and production to produce, what they describe as “pure pop for now people.” Both were previously in a band called Pretty Blue Gun who featured guests musicians such as members of The Art of Noise, Dave Bronze (Eric Clapton’s bass player), Tobias Boshell (Moody Blues) and Pip Williams, who played guitar on the Walker Brothers’ track, ‘No Regrets’.  The two critically acclaimed albums were produced by Pat Collier, who produced Katrina and the

The Frost: “Keep It Real” – There’s a classiness to this!

The Frost is a multi-genre group comprised of Leah Evans (Vocals) and Christian Gratz (Guitar, Piano). Located in Pennsylvania, their brand new single “Keep It Real” was released on December 7.  The duo emerge at a time when the ranks of sophisticated pop contenders seemed to have disappeared on a daily basis. Simultaneously chic and very creative, they thrive on the considerable charm of lead singer Evans, with her smooth chocolate voice, the instrumental talents of Gratz, as well as the pair’s impressive abilities as a songwriting unit. An absolute stand-out aspect of the new song is the way it’s

Forest Robots: “Timberline and Mountain Crest” – Inspired by natural landscapes

Let’s start of by saying that Fran Dominguez aka Forest Robots is a master at producing chilled out electronic music with heavy beats, and lots of orchestral instrumentation thrown in the mix. To call it electronic music almost seems unfair, as it implies this is music made by machines. Yes, I realize he is called Forest Robots, but this could not be further from the truth, as Dominguez’s music is pumping with life and human emotion. His latest album “Timberline and Mountain Crest” showcases 10 tracks of stunning depth, the kind of album you just throw the headphones on, turn

Edward St. Martin: “Lullaby” – blur the lines between savvy pop stylings and hard hitting kinetic soundscaping

Hailing from San Diego, Edward St. Martin has a background in film composition and classical music. His most recent single is “Lullaby”. Expectations met, superseded and immediately I hit replay. This track is going round again and I’m not the only one within ear shot of my stereo who is pleased about it. The easy laid back crossover Pop/EDM groove take is not unexpected, as I had already read that St. Martin was one for mellow tones combined with pop and soul vibes. But this track has another key element which makes a record of this nature standout. Intelligence. This

Katiah One: “Tail Spin” – an evolving, audacious artist

Soon releasing debut first EP “A Whole Lotta Water Works”, Katiah One is an artist raised on the Upper West Side of New York City. His mission is changing the common perception of the average rapper. Katiah draws inspiration from many genres including R&B and Rock, while his favorite artists include Freddy Mercury, Sam Cooke and Issac Brock.  On his latest single “Tail Spin”, taken off the aforementioned EP, Katiah deals with the deep issues of existentialism, or simply put, the meaning of a human being’s existence. Sure his talking ‘black’ talk, but you can’t go there without understanding the

Alisa Chirco: “Give Me More” – bench marked with confidence!

Alisa Chirco sure isn’t shy about revealing what’s on her mind, on her brand new single “Give Me More”, the follow up to her almost gothic-like pop ballad “Box”. Alisa sounds passionate, wanting and determined, in a driven rock song that is an anthem for empowered women. Her music here is very strong, has meaning, and is legit. The track shows that she is learning to emote in a more visceral and arguably more demonstrative way. Alisa has now escalated to being a rock chic with an attitude and bold open-confessional lyrics. A sensible direction for any reinvention is maturity, and

Roger Cole & Paul Barrere: “MARY” – a song that speaks to every man and woman

Roger Cole & Paul Barrere’s music and lyrics are complex and demands multiple listening’s before you can fully digest what they put into it. I just love their fusion of blues, country, folk and rock. Their lyrics always tell you a story or describe an experience and make you think. The use of guitars on their tracks allows the instrument to `talk’ and evoke emotion – from happiness and joy to sadness and grief, without ever falling into the guitar heroics, style of playing. Some of their songs actually might motivate you to kick up your feet and start dancing.

Roger Cole & Paul Barrere seem to be getting better with age and certainly on each subsequent release. Every time a new release comes around I don’t hesitate to listen to it with great pleasure. This was the case with “MARY”, as once again the duo delivers a song that speaks to every man and woman.

“LEANING ON THE SHOULDER OF A PICTURE ON THE WALL / LISTENING TO THE LYRIC OF SOME FORGOTTEN SONG
THE MELODY ESCAPES HER / HOW SHE WISHES SHE COULD RECALL
SHE KNOWS IT ONCE HELD MEANING, A MEANING FOR IT ALL”

Sing Roger Cole & Paul Barrere as they take a deeper look at existence and the lives of the aged, in this case “MARY”.

“WHO’S TO SAY YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY / TO SOME OTHER PLACE, ON SOME OTHER DAY
THERE’S NO VOICE THAT CAN TRULY SAY / THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES ALWAYS GIVES THEM AWAY
THEY’RE JUST TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION”

Clearly these two musicians and songwriters have produced yet another gem, this time giving almost anyone over the age of 40 a piece of music to embrace and to think about. This is the kind of socially conscious song you’d expect from Tom Petty at his best!

These are grown men at the top of their game, so sit back with a pair of headphones on and a cold beer or a glass of wine and just listen. Roger Cole & Paul Barrere are simply spectacular, playing together seamlessly. And even if they were tone deaf, Roger Cole & Paul Barrere could probably be excellent short story writers, as their messages and thoughts come across loud and clear throughout their lyrics.

“MARY” is a great thought-provoking track that should give encouragement to real musicians and music lovers everywhere. It’s always appreciated when real artists like Roger Cole & Paul Barrere release original self-written, self-performed material in a world of pop crap where no-one even writes their own songs anymore. They just parade around the internet and television talent shows, wishing that they could.

“MARY” is a thoughtful, well-played, and durable tune which will please many ears!
