Slick, soulful, and melodic – this stuff is made for the radio. BEEA is a world class singer and performer, and she’s miles beyond some of her pop star peers, currently on the scene. Union Five has a groove-centric sound

Rhythm is as important as melody throughout the amalgamation of tracks on the self-titled album by Union Five. This is evidenced by the alternating emphasis on one aspect or the other – and often the fusion of the two elements, which enlivens the musicians as they play. In turn, this spontaneity commands attention because surprises abound within each track. At a given juncture the band may slow the growing momentum of the music, giving itself and the listener time to ponder what has preceded, in preparation for what is to follow. But this moment is often fleeting, as temperate paces

Yung Saintz: “So Help Me” stretches from hip-hop to the far reaches of rap and soul

Born in Toronto, Canada, both Geoffrey and Kadin of the duo, the Yung Saintz, are sons of Caribbean parents. Without major label support, GTA and Kadin Black were able to release a series of projects that feature artists such as London’s Double S, Revived, and Sarah G. This dedication put them on stages with Mali Music, Da Truth, Sean Simmonds, and Rita Marley to name a few. If there’s one thing that stands out about the Yung Saintz it is the fact that after listening to them you feel uplifted and empowered. They have a very unique talent to be Christ centered in their music. I also love the fact that they leave you with a call to action. “So Help Me”, the latest track by the Yung Saintz reminds me of the good old hip-hop days. The lyrics are deep and are what rap should be.

yung-saintz-shm-350I have to say that “So Help Me” brings a new flavor that is sure to appeal to all who like diversity and creativity. There are two distinct styles in this track, which could be called ‘song’ and ‘street’. Both of these styles meld to give the track its anthemic ‘song’ melody while the ‘street’ rhymes are what keeps you hooked to the lyrics and messages.

Whether you’re a Christian or regular Hiphop fan, this track is exceptional. It has its own unique sound that stretches from hip-hop to the far reaches of rap and soul, and it’s great to listen to. It’s very carefully crafted music with a good message. I think that it’s something that all music fans that are open to a new experience might really enjoy. The production of the music is spot on and Yung Saintz deliver awesome Rap vocals all with a powerful Christian message.

In an industry where folks live and die off of building their own names for brand identity, it must be extremely difficult doing that while glorifying the Savior at the same time. The Yung Saintz are fully aware of this. They somehow manage to put out awesome songs filled with the self-awareness that they are trying to contribute to building Christ’s Empire with their talents. And they do this without preaching or mentioning the word Jesus 300 times in a verse.

I’m glad Yung Saintz are able to hang on to their identity in this industry, while continuing to put out crossover gems like “So Help Me” for us listeners. It’s time for Christian-inspired artists to stop worrying about what others think of them and get back to what causes fans to tune in – simply sharing their talents and messages. Something Yung Saintz do with perfect ease!
