AP Project – “Out of The Blue” – Smooth, beautiful mixes, innovative style and very cool grooves

The AP Project is a band formed by students from the conservatory of music in Naples (Italy). Its members include band leader Arcangelo Pezzella (guitar), Guido Foi (piano and keyboards), Alessandro Petricciuolo (bass), and Francesco Pellegrino (drums), and features Angela Addezio (vocals). Though the group comes from a jazz background, they prefer not to label their music in any way. “We all come from jazz,” says Pezzella, “but we all go somewhere else. That’s the best feature of our album,” he continues, “It’s a sonic journey through different yet similar soundscapes.” The AP Project took shape about a year ago,

Solomon’s Architects – “The Edge Of It All” goes beyond pure musical pastiche

Bryant Micheal Waghorn can make your head spin with his creativity and output as a singer, songwriter, project leader and musical collaborator. The album, “The Edge Of It All” by his pet project Solomon’s Architects, featuring multi-instrumentalist and producer Luc Michaud, as well as collaborator Josie Elysia, is a nod to the great pop, prog and rock crossover artists such as Peter Gabriel, the elaborate tropes of The Mars Volta, the complex bombast of King Crimson and the shuddering rhythms of Rush, with a thick smudging of REM-styled, organic singer-songwriter flair. Add a clear-headed ear for melody and arrangement to

Matt Draco – “Get Off” – a cautionary tone that’s burned into every word!

Raised in Inglewood, California, Matt Draco’s prowess blends his aggressive West Coast personality with his nimble New York inspired rhyme schemes. As a child he studied the lyricism of creatives such as Notorious B.I.G, J. Cole, and Jay-Z, and by the time he was 14, Matt also taught himself how to compose orchestral music, enhancing his musical understanding and vision. By the age of 18, Matt Draco had the honor of conducting University Preparatory School’s orchestra twice, with two different pieces composed by himself. He then returned to his native Hip-hop roots releasing a series of freestyles and singles on

DREAM BIG EMPIRE presents Blacc Cuzz – “Wadd Up Doe” – outbursts of authenticity and real Hip-Hop

Blacc Cuzz is committed to forging a glorious way forward in his career. More importantly, he’s underscoring his critical lapses in the past for sake of the young guns who may admire him. At this stage, the Pittsburgh, PA, born and raised creative, who fashions himself as a self-made businessman in the mold of Jay-Z, is well aware of his status as an artist and record label boss at Dream Big Empire. The good-natured don of the working class can rap like the most vulgar deacon you’ll ever meet, driven by reactionary outbursts of authenticity and real Hip-Hop. Much like

Ramirez Coiva – “I’m Walking Away” shines in the way the guitar and string arrangements are so well put together

Ramirez Coiva regards himself as a Citizen of the World, who has been writing and making music since 2000. His single “I’m Walking Away” was written and recorded in Istanbul (Turkey), a couple of years ago. The song is a hybrid between the alternative rock guitar sound of the past and a look toward a more modern, sleeker pop sound. One thing is clear on this track, there are very few people that can match Ramirez Coiva’s all-embracing songwriting talent. Regardless of style, whether it’s heavy guitars or strings, keyboards and drums, a great song is a great song, and

“Time” – The new single and video release by APKLYPZ

“Time” in the world of APKLYPZ is the unknown march into darkness. The trippy mind-bending perceptions of infinity. The psychedelic wanderings of a consciousness loose in the cosmos. The groove between space and time, the analog and the digital, reality and illusion. Audiovisual artist APKLYPZ combines dense dreamy trip-hop and psychedelic visuals to create a cinematic experience called a “form of escapism” by Electro Wow. Every APKLYPZ production is a vivid world of expression and “…an enthralling and emotive listen which is accompanied by a spellbinding video”. Seasoned by decades as a bass auteur and years as a globetrotting

The Sunless Sea: “Void” has been made into a stunning stop motion video!

Charleston, SC based singer and songwriter Witte Crosby, better known by his moniker, The Sunless Sea, has released a six-track EP, entitled “NO GHOSTS” with the help of co-producer Manny Sanchez, also known for his work with artists such as Fall Out Boy. There are hardly the words to describe how utterly beautiful this EP is.

The Sunless Sea’s songwriting has a unique, enigmatic quality that keeps the music both supremely engaging and undeniably unique. It is virtually impossible to have a favorite song on this EP but if I had to pick one I would choose, for the lyrics, the empathy and the emotion, the song “Void” which has also been made into a stunning stop motion video.

the-sunless-sea-clip1Epic in nature, the opening bars of music sounds eternal when you’re half asleep, half awake and sifting through sleep…just before the crashing walls of powerful guitar riffs blast your semi-consciousness into oblivion,  then gently floating you back into melancholy limbo again. I have basically been listening to “Void” nonstop for the past three days, and I never get tired of the gentle yet searching vocals, the intricate lyrics, the moods it provokes and imagery it evokes. The song carries the same grandiose feeling of Pink Floyd arrangements, blended with the wistful brilliance of Radiohead deliveries.

However, apart from the mesmerizing music, the more I listened, the more I picked up on the lyrics, and it was the lyrics that finally blew me away and made me fall absolutely in love with The Sunless Sea. The lyrics are skillfully and poetically wrought, and every verse paints a vivid image in the listener’s mind: “If I was a satellite, you were the city /
Nocturnal intelligence, you were the spark that built a forest fire / And I know we won’t be long / And I know you can’t be right / But I don’t feel your void / No I don’t feel your void / I don’t feel you.”

the-sunless-sea-clip2Just as an abundance of solid descriptive narration in literature pulls the reader into the pages of a book, so the The Sunless Sea pulls his listeners in by weaving colorful images in his lyrics, making us ponder its deeper meaning: “Come on, you can’t be scrounging out for more / I need your conversation quietly / I need the weight I feel inside of me / Need you to dissolve / But I don’t need you.”

To be honest, you wouldn’t even need to step out of the audio realm to appreciate the powerful imagery of “Void”, but Rafael Bonilla Jr. who directed the video clip has certainly done a superb job of extending the creative dimension of this song. His stop motion visuals adds so much emotional depth without ever duplicating The Sunless Sea’s lyrical images, but rather, intensely magnifying them. This song is simply beautiful. It’s a sequence of emotions triggered by the great vocals and complimented with a great instrumental. Do yourself a favor and get hold of it and watch the video!
