With strong vocal performances, well-crafted lyrics, and a diverse subtlety musically, the sublime always prevails in Zalex’s work. He has a strong propensity towards softer electronic sounds, and mid-to –up-tempo beats where his voice soars high, while his ballads are rich and full. Every song has something to offer with radio friendly pop filled hooks, melody, and performance. On his latest single, “Roads”, taken from the upcoming album “Nouns”, Zalex once again scores big.
Lumped into the all-encompassing category of mainstream electronic pop, Zalex has been able to successfully prove his mettle at the art of writing music that’s simple for those who desire for it to be simple, as well as complex for those looking for something a little deeper. All throughout his releases we’ve seen him blossom, witnessed him evolve into the inherently likeable artist that he’s become today.
Zalex has always expressed himself through his music; much of his discography told many a tale of love, loss ad longing, explaining the man behind the music. These were the staples, the hooks, the glue that bound Zalex’s credibility to his sleeve. And as the number of his single releases has grown, so does the number of skills he seems to possess.
Sure, we all knew he can concoct a ferociously catchy pop tune when needed, but we’ve never quite experienced the classy undertone that embodies his last couple of releases, including “Roads”. He is an amazing entertainer and his lyrics are so inspiring. This track is perfect addition to his catalog.
Zalex is an artist who works in shades of grey. Not so much a metaphor for his music’s mood, but rather its aesthetic; his voice and the lyrics to his songs always seem to have a melancholy shade to them, which makes you stop in your tracks and listen attentively to what he has to say.
The instrumentation is also flawless on this single. “Roads” has the best of both worlds: the intimacy and rawness of a live performance and also perfect playing and studio-like sound quality.
This track is a fine show case of Zalex’s maturation as both musician and a human with heart and soul. Beautiful poetic expression forms the foundation of this his works, as it does on “Roads” – “Walk with me / Winter’s silent, knowing white / Look back at footprints painted next to mine / I’ll love you all my life.”
You can hear the emotion and passion he has for these lyrics in his vocals. Expressing the many faces of love – passionate, tender, honest and much more, Zalex’s music is a good way to start and end your day with beauty, joy, and inspiration.
