New York based performing artist, Kfir, has spent his life pursuing his passion, which took him from his classical ballet training, to Broadway, and to now releasing his first EP. Kfir developed himself as an artist writing poetry, eventually expanding upon that, and adding music to his words. After his dance mix single “Heart After Dark” went to number six on the UK pop charts, he was able to raise the money he needed to fund his following endeavors, including his EP “Free Delivery”. His latest single is called “Outta Love”. The song seems to fully capture his personality, and is great representation of the singer’s own personal style, his interests, his aversions, his demons, and his desires. All of that in in only under four minutes, you’re thinking? Yes, if you’re as emotively honest and artistically impressive as is this American Israeli. Often a timbre and nuance of a voice can speak to you in so many more ways, than a simple lyrical narrative can. And for me this happens with “Outta Love”.
Kfir has a voice of a soul that has been thoroughly lived in. The track throbs with energy and emotion. It’s by any account a beautiful and tortured love song but also applicable to living life to your fullest against all odds and detractors.
Kfir’s voice is tender and powerful when and where it needs to be, resonating with thunderous emotional disquiet. Kfir has written what sounds like being the most breathtaking song of his career do far. Dark, emotional and atmospheric; it is a lyrical and sonic masterpiece in every way.
It’s a step toward a more balladry pop vibe but with very forward looking electronic production securing a cohesive fit with the other hit-making tracks from this era. The build in the vocal melody on the pre-chorus is phenomenal as Kfir moves from lower to upper registers from line to line.
The song builds overwhelmingly in intensity and has a certain triumphant aura within its anguish that has made it become an absolute favorite on my playlist. The keyboards, the bassline and the flawless vocal harmonies are enough to send you to another plane of consciousness.
Kfir is a vocal chameleon. The way he weaves his voice into the different nooks and crannies of this song is breathtaking. His voice mesmerizes and reaches into your soul, while he sings the lyrics which are achingly honest. And he sings them with integrity and real feeling. Moody and with a little angst, the song is raw, hits deep and tugs hard at your heart, showcasing great beauty of tone, emotion, and power.
“Outta Love” challenges you not to fall in love with it as much as Kfir challenges you not to fall in love with his persona. As for me, I concede absolute defeat. I am thoroughly smitten and besotted by this artist, and song, which I must admit, I was not expecting to impress me as much as it did. It’s a gem that will glitter for a quite a while in my collection of shining musical stars.
