Chris Kelly is an established singer/guitarist and songwriter from Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. He released two albums with his band The Scooters at the turn of the century and had a professional music career in the US after they signed to LA based label Aeronaut Records.
Chris has had his songs used for commercials and countless MTV and BBC productions. Being a Scooter brought highs and extreme lows due to the premature death of best friend and lead singer Anthony Carey.
Chris stepped back from the limelight for a few years, but a recent creative explosion has brought him back to the surface with a sack full of new tunes and a forthcoming album on the horizon.
Being a solo musician is an entirely new experience. A more mature, married and wiser man, no longer tempted by the lure of wild LA parties and romantic encounters with nurses from Blink 182 album covers (that’s a long story).
Chris is writing songs that mirror the world around us, tackling subjects such as depression, drug abuse, love and narcissism. Chris was devastated when band-mate Anthony Carey died, and decided to re-release one of Anthony’s favorite singles, “Paperback,” to raise money for 2 Wish Upon A Star, a charity close to the family’s heart. The single reached number 1 on the iTunes UK charts.
Chris Kelly also runs a successful company called Rock Academy Wales, inspiring young people to create music.
