To be blunt “Remember” is an absolutely sensational single. The kind that you know you are going to listen to over and over. With this track, A Killer’s Confession don’t try to be anything that they aren’t. You very quickly realize from the opening bars that the band have set about delivering a hard driving alt-metal song with grit and grunt, and that is exactly what they have done. There are catchy moments in “Remember” that will get stuck in your head, but the band never stray from the heavy, almost brutal sound that will win them countless new fans.
Formed in 2016 in Cleveland, OH, by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, A Killer’s Confession (AKC) is completed by Morgan Bauer (drums), JP Cross (bass), and Tommy Church (guitar). Their debut album “Unbroken” was released on May 12th, 2017, via EMP Group, the label founded by Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson. Their first single, “A Killer’s Confession”, featured Korn guitarist, Brian “Head” Welch.
When their contract term ended with EMP Group, the band self-released their next three singles to critical and commercial acclaim, racking up over 2 million cumulative streams on Spotify. In 2019, Pepper Gomez, the founder and CEO of Chicago and Miami based Wake Up! Music Group signed A Killer’s Confession.
Managed by Jeromy Jerome for FM Music Management, the band went on to release their sophomore album “The Indifference Of Good Men” produced by Sahaj Ticotin (vocalist for Ra), in the same year.
Now in 2021, A Killer’s Confession bounce right back with “Remember”, which was released on January 27th via Wake Up! Music Rocks. The track certainly hits like a brick, with a twisting guitar motif being overtaken by a pounding riff paired with a surly bass growl, and primal drums.
Waylon Reavis puts on a vocal clinic for how to be raunchy, raw and still catchy, backed by a sound as heavy and hooky as ever, with a chorus that will set the radio on fire.
“Remember” excels at what it set out to do. It is grinding, relentless, and infectiously epic, especially in the thickly layered choruses, proving to be an instant ear-grabber. Apart from the stunning vocals, where A Killer’s Confession sprint ahead of their contemporaries, is in the instrumentation. Heavy when they want, always melodic, some great guitar work, rolling basslines and slamming drums make sure there is thunder and lightning in their sound.
No doubt “Remember” will pique a distinct interest in the rock and metal communities. A Killer’s Confession know their way around a hook, just as much as they know how to cut to the bone. On this track we get another taste for their unfiltered creative potential.
When the drums, bass, and guitar all come in hard and Reavis unleashes his ferocious vocals, A Killer’s Confession bring the house down. If haven’t gotten the picture by now, “Remember” is truly superb. You’re going to love it if you’re already a, A Killer’s Confession fan. And if you’re not, you’re about to become one!
