New Laconia — Fly or Die!: a song about pure adrenaline that everyone should feel at least once

The groundbreaking musical project from Ukraine, New Laconia, releases its third single, expanding their creative universe that began to form with the release of the songs “Stardust Bear Bazaar, Pt. 1” and “The Fates.” A team of leading authors, musicians, and producers, led by the founder of the creative formation, Alex Syniakov, is capturing the attention of listeners worldwide, boldly experimenting in genres such as heavy metal, rock, jazz, and pop.

Paradoxically, New Laconia’s songs appeal to both intellectual listeners and fans of popular music. Alex Syniakov has created his own musical-visual world that allows you to escape reality, fantasize, and most importantly – dance. New Laconia is working on materializing its own creative world, based on a wide range of musical preferences related to video games, movie soundtracks, progressive rock, and books in the fantasy and science fiction genres.

“I always wanted to combine these elements and mix them in a kind of creative ‘blend’. In the project, we strive to create diverse music that contains notes of nostalgia for childhood, films, and music of that time, but at the same time sounds modern. It’s like progressive rock, but more accessible to the listener,” says the founder of New Laconia.

The project’s debut single, “Stardust Bear Bazaar,” hid a truly unique science fiction story behind its cheerful and dynamic groove. The song tells about the eponymous space pub, its inhabitants, and occasional guests. The main lyrical hero is the owner of the establishment, the Bear, who is stuck in a time loop and has portals to other universes. Due to the manipulations of the villain Time, these portals turned into time machines, causing chaos.

The second song, titled “The Fates,” was dedicated to the three goddesses of fate from ancient Greek mythology – the Moirai (Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos). In the song, the Moirai weave the threads of destiny, playing cards or mysteriously commenting on the choices of guests, hinting at the inevitability of their paths. They can be both observers and participants in events, influencing the plot through subtle manipulations.

The project gained new musical tones with the release of the single “Fly or Die!”, a song that makes it impossible to sit still while listening. The composition is the most dynamic and aggressive in the world of New Laconia and combines straightforward rhythms with techniques unique to the music.

“‘Fly or Die!’ is an exciting musical journey that transports the listener to a world where strength of spirit and courage become the key to survival. The song’s heroine faces a choice: rise into the sky, challenging her fears, or remain on the ground, losing herself. Filled with dynamic melodies and emotional vocal parts, the composition explores the line between self-discovery and risk, freedom and responsibility. It’s an anthem for those ready to step into the unknown, believe in their own wings, and soar above the clouds,” says Alex Syniakov about the new stage of development for his musical universe.

But the song is unique not only in its concept and lyrics but also in its musical production. The track “Fly or Die!” uses polyphony for the first time, where voices sound simultaneously in three different octaves, creating a powerful, multi-layered harmony that emphasizes the emotionality and drama of the composition.

Despite the single’s uniqueness, it carries a simple but eternally relevant message – don’t be afraid to take risks and take the first step into the unknown. There is enough strength in each of us to spread our own wings. Everyone who hears this song feels a surge of energy and an irresistible desire to dance among people on the dance floor.

“This song is associated with the feeling of the moment when you stand on the edge of an abyss and realize that you now have to make a choice: to fly or to fall. It’s pure adrenaline mixed with excitement and fear, like before the first jump into the unknown. The feeling when the wind suddenly catches you, and you realize that flying is the only way to feel alive,” says the project team.
