Interstellar Battle and Desperate Choices: New Laconia Debuts Animated Sci-Fi Thriller “Captain Daredevil”

Ukrainian musical project New Laconia presents the animated music video for “Captain Daredevil” — a high-octane sci-fi action piece where music merges with cinematic animation and an original lore-driven universe.

New Laconia is an independent Ukrainian project that consistently expands its own sci-fi universe, operating at the intersection of heavy metal, animation, and narrative storytelling.

“Captain Daredevil” continues the grand animated odyssey that began with the Stardust Bear Bazaar Pt.1 video. While the previous installment introduced viewers to a mysterious pub existing outside of time and space, this new work drastically shifts the tone: moving from an ironic detective story to a fast-paced, dangerous, and gritty adventure.

The events of the video take place following the journey to the planet Symmetry (featured in the release New Laconia). It is there that the Wanderer discovers the key to the Gift of Time — an artifact capable of altering the course of events and breaking the laws of cause and effect. However, obtaining the key brings no balance; instead, it triggers a chain of perilous consequences.

While returning from his mission, the Bartender Bear, the central protagonist of the New Laconia universe, is ambushed by space pirates. Time no longer protects him. Amidst the chaos of the attack, he manages to escape but loses his most precious possession — his ship, without which further interdimensional travel is impossible. The Gift of Time has opened new doors, but it has simultaneously stripped away the illusion of safety.

Joined by the Engineer, the Bear makes a radical decision: to seek out the one known throughout the galaxy as Captain Daredevil. A legendary mercenary, bounty hunter, and veteran of numerous interstellar conflicts, the Captain becomes the pivotal figure of this new chapter. From this moment on, the story transitions from a contemplative cosmic journey into a fierce, dynamic struggle for survival.

Visually, the video blends cosmic aesthetics, adventure-driven sci-fi, and cinematic momentum. It is a story of loss, risk, and the hard choices made when heroes must act instantly, with no margin for error. Musically, “Captain Daredevil” stands in stark contrast to the previous release: replacing instrumental meditative fusion with powerful metal that underscores the tension and desperation of the moment.
