Montana rock band Stranded By Choice is releasing their fifth full length LP. The album, titled Marooned In Stone, is set to be released June 5th and is their first original release since 2023. The album is also the first studio project to feature drummer Stefan Flores, whose bombastic yet technical style helps create a fresh new direction for the band. Marooned In Stone is fast and heavy for sure, but also leans into a dynamic and melodic sound that results in a more mature and refined Stranded By Choice.
“This is definitely the most musical album we’ve ever made,” says singer and bass player Rich Feeley. “We really took the time to develop the songs and work out a lot of details to make sure we were truly happy with every part of every tune. I spent a lot more time working out the lyrics on this one and I think it really shows.” The album displays a blue-collar type of mysticism, with Feeley’s powerful voice guiding through themes like time, consciousness and the universe. “I wanted to get deep at points but not bog the album down with a bunch of rambling and cryptic nonsense. The challenge for me was to say what I wanted to say while still making it fun and listenable.”

The guitar work from Sean Young and Adam Rutt is as blistering and impressive as earlier Stranded By Choice albums, but this one adds even more dual leads and harmony parts, bringing to mind bands like Thin Lizzy and The Allman Brothers. Young and Rutt both showcase their own distinct styles, yet weave together seamlessly to create melodies that soar above thick walls of classic tone. Fans who love a good old fashioned shredding guitar solo will not be disappointed in this album.
Marooned In Stone was recorded at Iconoclast Studios in Billings, Montana. The album was produced by Jesse Vannoy, who has worked with Stranded By Choice on several projects including their last studio album Neptune’s Gate. Vannoy has helped the band define their sound and capture the energy of their live shows.
Sessions for Marooned In Stone began in March 2025 and took about a year to complete. The album is available on all streaming services on June 5th as well as limited edition vinyl and CD. Stranded By Choice is touring the Northwest US this summer with fellow Montana band Goners UK. More information is available at www.strandedbychoice.com or www.facebook.com/strandedbychoice.
