“Empirical Truth” by Danal/WBA Recording Artist, Mark Newman, was the 2019 Winner of The Long Island Blues Society Best Album Category and represented the NY area in competition at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Mark plays electric, acoustic, lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro. Newman has worked alongside many notable soul, blues, and rock artists including John Oates (Hall & Oates), Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille), Sam The Sham, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave).
The songs on “Empirical Truth” speak to hard hitting subjects like the state of gun control in the U.S. and the Dakota Access Pipeline, the album also includes covers from Little Feat and John Oates.
Past releases include “Walls of Jericho” and “Brussels” – a live acoustic EP.
