“POEMes CRISToLIENS #2: Wall Painting (A Tribute to Graffiti)” is another Musical Poem by AKA Louis, the 2nd of the CRiSToLIAN POEMs series. After ‘Creteil, the City of Dawn’, AKA Louis pays tribute to the graffiti’s and tags that decorate the walls of his city, the capital and the surrounding areas. Just like CRiSToLIAN POEMs #1, “Wall Painting” is also a poetic movie you can watch on YouTube.
Once again, the master of French underground ambient music has woven his web of intricate patterns, deep resonant bass and subtle counterpoints to create an amazing sonic journey, capturing images in the City of Creteil, where he lives, and in different Districts of Paris, the French Capital, where the urban creative culture nurtures itself.
The ambience of the music of Han Sino, the AKA Louis alter ego, belies the `background sound’ aspect of the term – this is music that can be experienced on many levels. As with all of his releases, the music on this 2-track project is transporting and evocative – it’s anything but aural wallpaper.
Sino’s spirit infuses all of his works with a sincerity and sense of quest that many of his peers seem to lack or even eschew – there is emotion here that reaches down to the depths of the mind – as opposed to the brain – and there is a difference – in such a way as to resonate in the well of the listener’s very soul.
The tracks on this project flow gently, but with an unmistakable power. Each composition has a mood of its own, but the transition from mood to mood is never jarring or inappropriate – there is a path that exists in the music, as there is one within us from thought to thought and from one level of consciousness to another.
It is when the barriers between these levels are broken down, and they can interact, that Han Sino’s music is an aural parallel of the visions of his city, as well as the matching poetry by AKA Louis which reads: “Contemplate this mural painting on the walls of contempt…It is a mutiny of whispers, banned, already…Contemplate this painting on the walls… Contemplate…! These few drops of colors as Tag(s)…”
“POEMes CRISToLIENS #2: Wall Painting (A Tribute to Graffiti)” is truly among the crème de la crème of AKA Louis and Han Sino’s work, which is part of an astonishing series of recordings.
Just as you think you have reached the edge of where you can go in your sonic voyaging, a tonal shift will occur and carry you into a delicious and heartfelt beautiful space of unparalleled hope. These recordings are both initiatory, and a veritable soul-retrieval in this time of widespread soul loss. In essence, this is a healing sound and not just a journey of discovery.
If this is your first exposure to the audiovisual endeavors of AKA Louis and Han Sino, prepare yourself for a stirring ride – a series of memorable visit to a multi-textured mosaic of images, words, and music. These recordings are not mere tunes or songs, but rather dwelling places of sentient and divine energy.
