Ancient statues, cold smoke, and a dark dress that exposes nerves rather than skin. In her new release, “Unholy,” DARIA constructs the complete persona of a cold goddess of chaos – one who has finished playing games with love.
“Unholy” is a cinematic underground journey into the moment an illusion of grand passion shatters, and addiction can no longer masquerade as destiny. It is a song about emotional power plays where two people willfully lean into a dramatic script, yet only the illusion emerges victorious.
The sound begins with a restrained tension, gradually thickening as guitar, bass, drums, and electronic samples weave an atmosphere of dark suspense. By the finale, doubt has transformed into cold realization: someone else’s chaos is not your responsibility.
The visual component is central to this release. The creative direction draws on classical sculpture – marble busts, ruins, cold lighting, and a minimalist stage. DARIA appears in a modern dark-fashion aesthetic: a graphic black dress, sharp lines, and disciplined movement. This isn’t about the romanticism of pain; it is about distance and control.
“To me, this song is associated with Eris, the goddess of chaos,” the artist explains. “She sees right through the hero and refuses to fall for the illusions. There is power in this cold void. That is exactly how ‘Unholy’ sounds.”
For DARIA, this release marks a profound personal turning point. Following the dissolution of her band (active from 2013 to 2020), music remained a painful territory for a long time. Returning to solo songwriting was only possible after significant inner work and a rejection of self-destructive patterns.
“Unholy” is a track for those who sense the story is ending – for those who refuse to call codependency “depth” any longer. It captures the exact moment you decide to walk off the board.
The song serves as an anchor for those ready to let go and move forward, reminding listeners that confidence and freedom begin where someone else’s manipulation ends.
Turn “Unholy” up. Let it unfold from its quiet start to its dense, wall-of-sound finale. If, by the end, silence is replaced by peace instead of pain – the choice has already been made.
