Jeremy Parsons – “Good Ole Days” – a thoughtful mood

Recently turned onto Jeremy Parsons and he has some stellar tracks. Every song is great and inspirational. You can understand every word and hum the tunes, which I appreciate. Thoughtful, sometimes fun, and just what I needed to hear at this time in life. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Jeremy Parsons grew up soaking in the sounds of Texas music in the dancehalls of the Lone Star State. Jeremy was always a fan of music, but it wasn’t until his later high school years that he discovered his knack for it. Driven by his passion, he taught himself to play the guitar and began to write and perform music. Over the past decade, Jeremy has played all over the U.S. and in Europe, including numerous venues in Texas.

After living in Nashville for several years, Jeremy has returned home to Texas.  His brand new single, “Good Ole Days” dropped on July 17th, 2020. It’s here that his seductive vocals shine with distinct yearning while delicate percussion accompaniment and sweeping slide guitar features further evoke the song’s message. Jeremy Parsons proves himself a master at finding inspiration within his surroundings and personal experiences, and as a result, transports the listener with him.

Jeremy’s talent as a songwriter and distinct musical influences from classic country merge throughout “Good Ole Days” for a memorable single release that will no doubt serve as a timeless addition to his catalog. It’s just a recipe for good, heartfelt music, and that’s what Jeremy delivers on this record. He probably knew he needed to get out of Nashville in order to make a record like this, and Texas was the perfect backdrop.

Besides Jeremy’s vocals and the limpid melody, the thing that captures this track’s mood the most is the production. It’s all so vibrant and fresh, and it takes you to that place in your mind, where everything is uncluttered and clearer to you.

Sometimes songs just need an easier, wider feel, and that’s what Jeremy and his production crew accomplishes here. Its artists who make an effort to keep a little bit of the authentic soul, roots, and magic in the music who become more beloved by real fans of the genre.

“Good Ole Days” is everything you want in an authentic mainstream country record in 2020. It’s a damn good one and one which will have staying power. Jeremy Parsons is in a thoughtful mood on the track and this soaks through the nostalgia-driven lyrics.

Despite all of the thoughtfulness though, there is still that customary beat to get your foot tapping and put a smile on your face. “Good Ole Days” is a shining example of an artist producing music that is interesting, engaging and made to last.

The simple instrumentation and upfront quality of the production on Jeremy’s vocals are joined by a simple, yet very effective chorus that make this track an obvious one to send to Country radio for me. “Good Ole Days” is the kind of song Jeremy Parsons has always excelled at, and which certainly sets the stage for what is to come on his brand new album set for release in January 2021.
